Please read the email below from David Owen, the owner of de la mer, regarding a scam that took place in his store. David, thanks so much for passing this on to your fellow BIA members.
I'm just writing to let you know that the man in the picture below took one of my sales associates for approximately $100, by distracting her and getting her to make change on $100 he ended up never giving her. We've had a similar scam happen in the Roncesvalles area and I wanted to make my fellow merchants aware. He is also working with a younger man wearing a plaid shirt (red and white large checks) with a baseball hat, also with a dark complexion.
I hope this helps everyone,
David Owen(de la mer)

Jim Smith, owner of Envelop Studio, has another scam that happened to him this past Friday. Please read Jim's email below.
On Friday we had a different scam....one that I had heard of so was prepared.... Man calls, says he is the chef at 7 Numbers and that a supplier is at his restaurant for a cheque but he is stuck in the north end with car trouble.....could he call the supplier and have him pick up $80.00 from me and I would be payed back when he got in to the restaurant. I told him, that I knew he was a scammer. He told me to go #$%@# myself and hung up.
Please NOTE: if you have something occur such as the scams that we're alerting you to this morning, we recommend that you contact the police to let them know. Even if they're unable to fully resolve an existing incident, reports of incidents get tabulated once a year to help in determining which police divisions get more (or less) resources.
