Good Afternoon All,
I have a few things this afternoon to pass along:
1. Property Tax Deferral - City announces a new system:
The City understands some residents and businesses may be experiencing financial hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Property owners will be able to request additional time to pay their taxes without incurring late payment penalties or interest charges for a six month period effective June 1 to November 30, 2020.
The additional time given to pay your property taxes does not reduce the amount of taxes that are owed to the City of Toronto.

2. City to Waive 2020 Patio Fees:
The City is looking at waiving all patio fees for 2020. If you've received your 2020 bill from the City please hang on to it and don't pay it right now. If you have already paid then your payment will go towards your 2021 patio fee.
3. City Guidelines for Sector by Sector Reopenings:
The City is preparing guidelines for different sectors to reopen. The first sector that will be dealt with is restaurants/pubs. The City's Public Health Guidelines for restaurants/pubs will be released next week. The purpose of releasing the guidelines next week is to give restaurant/pub owners enough time to organize the necessary components before the Province allows you to reopen. So far, the Province has been announcing reopenings without much lead time and without much time for business owners to prepare. The City is trying to change this so you have time to properly prepare and can then be ready to open once the Province gives the go-ahead. I will circulate the guidelines once I receive them next week.
Thanks,
Susan
