Rules and Regulations For Restaurants, Bars and Meeting & Event Spaces Effective February 17

Below is a very comprehensive list of Rules and Regulations associated with tomorrow's lifting of some restrictions. Thanks to ORHMA for compiling and sharing this with us. 

 

Although this information is primarily for our restaurant, cafe and bar members, I'm sharing it with all of our BIA members so everyone knows what to expect if you are planning to go out for a meal or drinks.

Rules & Regulations for Restaurants, Bars and Meetings & Event Spaces

 

 

 

Effective February 17, 2022, the government has eased capacity limits and other restrictions placed on businesses. The province has provided an updated regulation which outlines which rules are still in place and which have been changed. Here's what you need to know:

 

Restaurants & Bars, Meeting & Event Spaces

The following rules are for establishments without dance facilities:

 

Capacity Limits:

100% Capacity

 

Proof of Vaccination:

Mandated until at least March 1, 2022 dependent on key health indicators.

 

Signage:

No longer required to post capacity signage.

 

Number of People Per Table:

No longer limited on the number of people seated at a table.

 

Screening:

Active screening is still required for all patrons entering the establishment.

 

Standing and Eating / Drinking:

The requirement to remain seated while eating or drinking is no longer in effect as of February 17.

 

Physical Distancing:

Physical distancing is not required in settings where proof of vaccination is required.

 

Singing & Dancing:

Patron singing (karaoke) is permitted as long as they are two metres away from the audience.

 

Dancing is not permitted. (If your establishment has dance facilities, the establishment is subject to 25% capacity).

 

Masks:

Required in all indoor settings. Masks must be worn unless eating or drinking.

 

Personal Protective Equipment:

Staff shall wear appropriate personal protective equipment that provides protection of the person’s eyes, nose and mouth if the person comes within 2 metres of another person who is not wearing a mask.

 

Safety Plans:

Required.

 

Contact Tracing:

No longer required as of January 31.

 

Important to Note: Any direction given by local Public Health Units will supersede the provincial rules.

 

 

 

Food or Drink Establishments with Dance Facilities

This includes nightclubs, restoclubs and other similar establishments and wedding receptions with dancing at meeting and event spaces.

 

Capacity Limits:

25% Capacity Indoor

75% Capacity Outdoor

 

Proof of Vaccination:

Mandated until at least March 1, 2022 dependent on key health indicators.

 

Signage:

The person responsible for the establishment must post a sign in a conspicuous location visible to the public that states the capacity limits under which the establishment is permitted to operate.

No longer limited on the number of people seated at a table.

 

Screening:

Active screening is required for all patrons entering the establishment.
