Friday, August 25/23 BIA Updates

Good Afternoon All,

Today I'm covering updates on the area construction, City De-escalation seminars, and Taste feedback.

Construction:
  • Some good news: we will be able to open the westbound Danforth traffic lane between Ellerbeck and Broadview today (Friday) by evening rush hour.
  • The work that you currently see on the south east side of the Broadview Danforth intersection is advance work on hydro connections - this needs to be done before the next phase of work starts on Monday.
  • Travel southbound on Broadview Avenue, south of Danforth Avenue remains closed.
  • The next stage of TTC streetcar track replacement at the intersection will begin on Monday, August 28 which will shift traffic restrictions and allow crews to complete work on the south side of the intersection.
  • For our BIA members in the Broadview south section I've already sent you the specific information for the new delivery/drop-off zones that will be in effect starting on Monday.
  • From 6 a.m. on Monday, August 28 to September 4, new traffic restrictions at the intersection will be in place as follows:
    • One lane in each direction will remain open on Danforth Avenue through the intersection which will be shared by drivers and cyclists.
    • Southbound traffic on Broadview Avenue towards Danforth Avenue will only be able to turn right for westbound travel on Danforth Avenue at the intersection.
    • Northbound traffic on Broadview Avenue towards Danforth Avenue can continue northbound through the intersection or turn right to travel eastbound onto Danforth Avenue but cannot turn left to travel westbound.
    • Due to space restrictions in the work zone, large vehicles will not be able to turn right to travel eastbound on Danforth Avenue from Broadview Avenue.
    • One northbound lane will continue to remain open on Broadview Avenue, from Gerrard Street East to Danforth Avenue.

De-escalation Seminars:
  • The City has just released new seminar dates for the early fall.  Please see the attachment.
  • Many of you reach out to me regarding having to deal with difficult situations with members of the public.  These seminars are well worth taking the time to do.  There are a few dates and times available and they're on-line so the City has made this as easy as possible for people to participate.
Taste Feedback:
  • Thank you to those of you who have emailed me your Taste feedback - it is really appreciated.
  • For those who haven't done so yet - please take a few minutes to send me your feedback.
As always if you have any questions especially regarding the next phase of construction please do not hesitate to email me.

Thanks,

Susan
