One of our BIA businesses announces its closure...

Hi Folks,

I'm very sad to report that one of our valued BIA members has announced their closure this afternoon.  After 20 years, Pealac Rugs at 815 Broadview Avenue is closing.  Nima and his wonderful store has been a mainstay in our BIA.  Nima and his family not only have a business in our BIA but are also local residents.  Nima has been trying to work things out in terms of rent but has not been able to come to an agreement with his landlord.    Here is the link to Nima's instagram post with further details on timing of the closure and a final sale.

And again, I'm urging our area elected officials to help.  We've presented 2 surveys from city-wide commercial tenants and landlords asking for a rent relief program that would actually work for them - one that the tenants can apply for; they've asked for help that isn't in the form of a loan which just adds to their mounting debt; they've asked for a temporary moratorium on commercial evictions.  In addition to the surveys, you've received numerous emails and phone calls pleading for you to help.  In my earlier update today I attached a letter from the Mayor of Oakville asking for the exact same things on behalf of small businesses.  June 1st is 9 days away.
